Speyside

Inviting scenery with redstone cliffs and firm sandy beaches on the coast. While inland the rich soil produces fat cattle for prime Scottish beef. However it is where the coastal plain rises to the foothills of the Cairngorms that you find what many visitors journey to Speyside for - Maly Whisky Country.

The clear waters of the River Spey contribute to the quality of the whisky. Some of the most famous distilleries in the world are to be found in this small area. There is a well beaten Whisky Trail, and most of the distilleries can be visited

The scenery on the Spey varies from the harsh in winter to mild in summer. The river is also used extensively for salmon fishing, plus sea trout and brown trout. Fishing on the Spey, or indeed on any Salmon river in Scotland, is not cheap!
