You will find lots of references to both Burns and to golf in Ayrshire. Burns because he came from here, golf because there are around 20 good courses, including Turnberry, Royal Troon, Old Prestwick, Western Gailes

Irvine has two excellent courses, Glasgow Gailes and Western Gailes. Or you can try Irvine Bogside for some of the finest greens in Scotland

West Kilbride is a links course with few undulations, but it is exposed to the raw west winds and has some tricky holes.
